  • RY 2012-13 under the Presidentship of Rtn Radhika Mehta Club tied up with Kohinoor Technical institute to train 84 under privileged youth of the community in technical courses like air-conditioning, computer hardware and electrical and electronic courses. These were certificate courses of 6 month duration with a guaranteed job with a large company like Videocon, Reliance. Global Grant of US$ 30,000 received for this Project.

    Sponsored two Vocational Training Courses for underprivileged students at Seva Sadan. The Hair Cutting & Styling Course was completed successfully by 10 students and Basic Beauty Course by 3 students. Certificates of accomplishments were awarded to all the students.
    Over a 100 students and parents of students attended a presentation given by Kohinoor technical institute, Seva Sadan, Agnelo Computer institute for various courses being offered, which were subsidized by us upto 75%.

    Civic Awareness Workshop at our Interact School - Lady Engineer School
    Rotary Service 12 Group 11 - "Flame of Education" - Distribution of Scholarships to the underprivileged students. We were the lead host in the “Flame of Education” project , that handed over 663 scholarships to under privileged students to the tune of Rs. 1625/- each. The total size of the project was Rs. 11.97 lacs. The culmination of handing over the scholarships was held on January 26, 2013 with over 10 cultural performances by the children of the various schools , who were the recipients of this scholarship.

  • RY 2013-14 under the Presidentship of Rtn Sanjiv Mehta

    • Rotary Kohinoor Vocational Training - The first batch comprising of 84 students and the second batch of 41 students have already secured jobs. The third batch of 150 students have already started the courses. All Compliance Reports have been submitted to The Rotary Foundation.

    • On 8th February, our Club co-hosted the Career Guidance Seminar for Interactors at the Hall of Culture, Nehru Centre. The topics covered were Career Guidance by Rtn Aditya Singh, Effective Communication by Rtn Anita Shantaram, Etiquette and Personality Development by Rtn Raman Abrol and Stress Management by Keyur Trivedi. DG Rtn Lata Subraidu was the Chief Guest. 40 Interactors and Moderators from our four Interact Schools attended the Seminar.

    • Participated in the Rotary Carnival on 24th November at CPRA Bayview Marina Gardens. It was a great PR exercise for our Club and also for Rotary in general. Our Club had sponsored one stall of Rs 12,000/- by giving it to a NGO Shri Atma Vallabh Mahila Kendra.

    • Our Club continues to support A.K.Munshi Institution which does the honorable service of helping the mentally challenged children get basic schooling and vocational training. The school has recently been renovated and painted by the Club. The Members of the Club celebrated Christmas with the 140 mentally challenged children of the School at their premises. From 11th Feb to 15th Feb our Club sponsored five day educational camp to Ajanta and Ellora, Aurangabad, for 17 and 33 differently abled girls and boy students of the age group of 7 to 42 years of A K Munshi Yojana. They were accompanied by 8 teachers and 2 caretakers. The project cost was Rs 96,000/- and included transport, boarding and lodging plus all meals and snacks. The aim is to provide training to reduce their dependence on their over protective families and experience the world from outside their routine lives of home and school. They develop self-dependent daily Living skills and become independent. They learn to bond with each other in natural surroundings. It was a great experience for them and the students did not want to come back.

    • Setting up of Telephone Booth - A generous donation of Rs 45,000 was received from Rtn Lalit Singhvi towards setting up a telephone booth opp Banganga Municipal School for a handicapped person and putting our Club’s name as Sponsor of this project.

    • Dr P N Singh Foundation runs the Leaders of Tomorrow project in 82 schools in Mumbai. The program is a 40 session program conducted for 9th Std students weekly for two hours for a period of one year per school. The cost per school is Rs 10,000/-. The cost of scholarship per student for five years upto graduation is Rs 20,000/- per student. Our Club is sponsoring the Leaders of Tomorrow Project in one school @ Rs 10,000 and also sponsoring the scholarship amount of Rs 40,000 for two students upto graduation.
  • RY 2014-15 under the Presidentship of Rtn Chetan Mehra

    * Joint Project to celebrate World Disability Day - The Inner Wheel of Bombay Queen's Necklace and the Rotary Club of Mumbai Queen's Necklace participated in a joint project to celebrate World Disabled Day on Wednesday, 3rd December 2014. The service project was held in the morning at Fellowship of the Physically Handicapped, Haji Ali. Breakfast, lunch and musical program was organized for the physically handicapped. Our Club donated a computer to FPH. The project was followed by brunch at Little Italy at NSCI.

    * Rotary Kohinoor Vocational Training – All batches have completed the course and have got suitable employment

    * On 5th December our Club officially handed over two looms to A K Munshi School. These looms are being operated by specially challenged children. – Rs 2 lakhs project cost

    * Co-hosted Self Defence Workshop

    Antarang Foundation is a NGO which carries out Career Ready Employment Skill Training and Vocational Guidance Programmes for disadvantaged youth between 17 to 24 years in slum communities. On Saturday, 6th June our Club handed over cheque of Rs 2,73,020 to Antarang Foundation. Our Club has committed to support two batches of 20 students each for the Career Readiness Program for six months in Cuffe Parade slum community. The cost per batch works out to Rs 1,36,510/- and the cost per student works out to Rs 6,826/-.
    Total number of beneficiaries – 40.

    * Vocational Awards
    On Friday, 10th October our Club was the Lead Host Club for the District Vocational Excellence Awards Event held at the Royal Oak. The Chief Guest was RIDE Dr Manoj Desai and Guest of Honour was DG Rtn Ajay Gupta. The Co-host Club was RC of Bombay Central supported by RC of Bombay Peninsula and RC of Mumbai Cuffe Parade. RIDE Dr Manoj Desai, Actress Rtn Juhi Chawla Mehta and Rtn Dr Indu Shahani were felicitated with “Excellence in Serving Humanity, Beyond Self” Award. RIDE Dr Manoj Desai gave a very lucid talk on “Aadat se Ibadat tak” which enthralled the Rotarians present. The Meeting ended with cocktails and dinner.

    * Sponsored 86 children of SVRR School at a cost of Rs 9.46 lakhs
    SVRR is a 50 year old NGO which supports 86 differently abled children at Tardeo. Our Club has been supporting them year on year. They provide education, vocational training, meals, uniforms, shoes etc free to the children. Children, who many a families believe to be a burden, have become small but income earners and not a liability. The cost of sponsoring each of the 86 children was Rs 11,000 per year. All 86 children are sponsored by the members of the Club. On 18th April our club donated Rs 9.46 lakhs for sustaining annual expenses of 86 kids.

    * Sponsored a Sensory Garden for Jai Vakeel School at a cost of Rs 3.85 lakhs
    On Friday, 10th April 2015, RC of Mumbai Queen's Necklace along with Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Queen's Necklace inaugurated the Sensory Garden Project at Jai Vakeel School, Sewri. The total project cost was Rs 3.85 lakhs.

    * The Club disbursed Rs 2.75 lakhs to Muktangan School towards furnishing and enhancing education facilities in Muktangan School. This included setting up modernized science lab, AV room, library, computers and networking in its newly located Municipal Secondary School. Muktangan has got a four storied building from BMC. Total project cost was Rs 21 lakhs. Muktangan empowers women by providing them with professional training through their modular three year Integrated Teacher Education Training program. 80% of trainees are absorbed in Muktangan schools as teachers.

  • RY 2015-16 under the Presidentship of Rtn Kalpesh Shah

    • The Club sponsored new equipment for their Neuro, Autistic and Respite Centres and 2 handlooms for their Vocational Centre of Jai Vakeel School. The project cost is Rs 10 lakhs.


    The maintenance of computer hardware (CPU, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Casing Locks and Lan Wire) is monitored by our Club through Monthly Maintenance Reports submitted to our Club of both the Municipal Schools – Gilderlane BMC School and Tardeo BMC School.
    Cost Rs. 175,000/-

    • Educational Camp for Differently Abled children of A K Munshi School
    This is an ongoing project of the Club. Our Club sponsored an outstation Educational Camp for 51 special children of A K Munshi School. The aim is to provide training to reduce the dependence of children on their protective families and experience the world outside their routine lives in home and school. They develop self dependent daily living skills and become confident. They learn to bond with each other in natural surroundings. They learn to fend for themselves in daily activities away from home and school.
    Cost Rs. 95,000/-

    • Sponsored 86 children of SVRR School
    SVRR is a 50 year old NGO which supports 86 differently abled children at Tardeo. Our Club has been supporting them year on year. They provide education, vocational training, meals, uniforms, shoes etc free to the children. The core activity of this vocational centre located at Tardeo is engaging the students in manufacture of office files, dusters, napkins, covers and other gift articles. All profits from sale of the products made are distributed to the kids. Children, who many a families believe to be a burden, have become small but income earners and not a liability. The cost of sponsoring each of the 86 children is Rs 11,000 per year. All 86 children were sponsored by the members Project cost Rs 9,46,000

    In the Grand North Mumbai Marathon 2016 organized by Hon. Minister Shree Gopal Shetty more than 15000 students participated in the Marathon.

    Master Ketan student of St Mathews School won third place.

    Mrs Larzy Varghees, Principal of St Mathews School has been conferred with Literacy Hero Award 2016 by Rotary India Literacy Mission. The jury had selected the 5 winners in its meeting held on 22nd Feb at New Delhi. This Award was conferred on 11th March at Kolkata in the presence of 3000 Rotarians from all over India and delegates from Pakistan, Bangaldesh and Sri Lanka. The conference was held at Netaji Subhash Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. Two and fro travel arrangements were also arranged by Rotary India Literacy Mission.

    Two students of St Mathews School won silver medals at the National Chess-Boxing Competition at Kolkata.
